- Official language for many international organisations (IMF, WTO, WHO, United Nations, NATO,...).
- Spoken in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada, Mauritius, New Caledonia, and 30 other countries;
Some regional differences can be found.
- Unless specifically requested, we translate in French of France, which is appropriate for most markets.
- In cases of localisation, we use a translator from the particular country in which the French translation is to be used:
ie in Quebec / Canada, Canadian French is noticeably different from European French. Quebecois strongly prefer their own version of the language
and respond more favourably to it.
French Typesetting
- Only occasional space issues: French translations can often be 10-15% longer than the original English text.
- Same font selection and layout considerations as in English. Hyphenation must follow French rules.
